A Poem On the Nature of Happiness

Updated: May 9, 2019

When will we be happy?

It is not when we make a difference that we will be happy.

It is when we are happy that we will make a difference.

It is not when we achieve greatness that we will be happy.

It is when we are happy that we will achieve greatness.

Because when we are happy, well, we are happy.

I do not mean pleased. I do not mean satisfied. I do not mean free from time.

I mean one with time.

It is not when we find her that we will be happy.

It is when we are happy that we will find her.

It is not when we know what to do that we will be happy.

It is when we are happy that we will know what to do.

It is not when we try to serve another that we are truly happy.

It is when we are happy that we can truly serve another.

But what is to be happy you ask?

To be happy is to not need anything to be happy.

To be happy is to be happy with who one is. To be happy is to be happy with what one is. To be happy is to be happy with existence.

To be happy is to be happy with non-existence.

To be happy is to be happy with whatever is.

To be happy is to be happy.

To be happy is to be free from wanting to be free.

For it is not when we find freedom that we will be happy.

It is when we are happy that we will find freedom.

To be happy is to be.
